Specs
The official specifications for 2025’s Chevy Corvette Electric Powertrain are not yet available. Car and Driver predict it will have 3-4 electric motors capable of producing more than 1,000 horsepower. Like other electric vehicles made by GM, such as the Chevy Silverado pickup truck, the Corvette EV will be equipped with the Ultium battery platform. It will be able to compete with potential competitors like the Dodge Challenger eMuscle or an electric Porsche 718.
GM will also release an electric-only Corvette and a hybrid Corvette. This hybrid Corvette is likely to be known as the “Corvette E-Ray”. It will likely have two electric motors at the front and one gasoline engine at the rear. Corvette Z06 hybrid variant. The automaker will likely offer a more powerful version of this hybrid. Corvette Z06. It is speculated that it will be called “the Corvette Zora”, named after Zora Arkus Duntov, GM engineer.
Products

These new products are not a half-hearted effort like the Cadillac Cimarron and the Ford Contour-derived Jaguar X-type. The pivotal point of the new Corvette is its unique DNA, which shouts “Corvette!” in terms of both design and driving dynamics. The brand’s switch to the Ultium platform will allow the owners to reimagine its proportions, stance, and engineering, or to keep the iconic elements that shaped the American sports car icon, from the 1950s through the present.
One source who saw the first proposals described them as “copies” and “encapsulated emotion purity.” The styling themes may be captured in waxing poetic, but what about the custom content? The mechanical package includes battery packs with high energy densities, superfast software, and a patented cooling system. It also contains miniaturized componentry as well as ultra-efficient inverters, high revving electric motors, miniaturized components, ultra-efficient Inverters, high-revving motors, and an 800-volt electrical circuit that can provide up to 350 kW of charge power.
Our friend from the GM Tech Center said that Corvette is more than a brand. It’s an ever-evolving system, paired with a drastically different user experience. The marque’s four-door coupe (which can be thought of more as a liftback), and the crossover bring two new value propositions: mainstream exclusivity, and high-end luxury. All three pillars have been designed to allow for future pragmatic evolution and expansion. “The goal is not to beat Taycan or Cayenne at their game, but to create three American legends capable to break new ground and make the essence of Corvette scalable.” Our source says that the essence must be constantly in progressive flux to achieve this hear.

Concept
GM has not released any images or videos of the 2025 Chevy Corvette electric. The company unintentionally released a teaser video showing an unmasked Corvette doing cold-weather testing in its announcement about electric Corvette models. The clip shows the Corvette E-Ray being tested. This is the same model as the current C8 Corvette version except for the yellow brake calipers. It’s possible that the Corvette EV will not be released until at least a few years hence there is a good chance that it will have a different design. We will have to wait until we find out what the interior of the Corvette EV looks like. It will likely have the same layout as the C8 Corvette model, with two seats.
The new Z06 has been seen, but there are many more C8 models still to be made, including an E-Ray hybrid and a revived ZR1. Zora is the extreme Zora hybrid that Zora Arkus-Duntov (the father of the original C1) was named after. A Corvette EV with GM’s Ultrium architecture is also on the horizon.

Step 2 of GM’s Corvette branding strategy is more ambitious and further reaching. GM will launch a Corvette brand in 2025 that includes a four-door coupe and a crossover. Both future Vettes will be electric. Sports cars can be very attractive and profitable. However, as Porsche demonstrated in the early 2000s with its Cayenne SUV, there is a lot to be done to expand the brand’s reach into other segments. The name Corvette can be used to make money if it is played intelligently and authentically. When Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati, and Porsche all offer one or more SUVs, which is the antithesis of the sports cars that made them famous, why shouldn’t Corvette consider making sedans, crossovers, or even pickups?
