It features a power-folding roof with removable doors and a power-folding top. Other than the Wrangler, the Ford Bronco is also capable of such tricks. Although the first images show a tailgate-mounded spare vehicle, no information about price, range, battery capacity, or total power output has been provided. Details like an illuminated 7-slot grille and meaty, BFGoodrich A/A rubber are visible. Rubberized flooring provides seating for up to 5 people. This space will be updated as we continue our Jeep Recon information mission. The Recon EV is still awaiting its production date. It is expected to arrive sometime in 2024.

The Recon EV joins the Wagoneer EV as one of two new electric models that will be joining the Jeep lineup. The Jeep Recon EV will fit in the SUV mid-size category. It will be roughly the same size and weight as the Jeep Wrangler or two-row Grand Cherokee. Jeep claims that the Recon Electric Vehicle (EV) will be available for reservations in early 2023. Production is expected to begin in 2024.

Jeep off-road vehicles are reliable and capable. It is hard for many of its competitors to imagine catching up with a Jeep off-road. The Wrangler is among the most capable Jeep off-road vehicles. This vehicle was first designed during World War II. In 1978, it was given the name “Wrangler”. It has been in production continuously since 1978, and it is now in its fourth generation. Jeep is loved by a loyal customer base that values the brand and its cars.

Over the years, many things have happened to the Wrangler. Over the years, many things have happened to the Wrangler. These include a modernization of its design and improved engines. Although the Wrangler is still a popular choice for many, market forces forced Jeep into rethinking its models. Many countries are moving towards mandatory electrification. The ban on new combustion-engined cars will take effect in the next ten years.

The brand has created a new EV platform and will be bringing several new models to the market. These models are powered entirely by electric motors and batteries. These models have the potential for changing the course of Jeep’s past. These are important decisions. Let’s look at the Recon EV, a retro-inspired model.

2024 Jeep Recon EV Release Date & Price

The 2024 Jeep Recon was heavily inspired by the brand’s Wrangler. The Recon will not replace the Wrangler but much of its design and philosophy are influenced by this iconic off-roader. Modern SUVs are well-known for their curvy, sleek designs. The Recon, however, is unabashedly bulky. The Wrangler was also created for this model. The Recon is a modernized version of the seven-slot grille, with LED backlighting. The Recon also features chunky bumpers with a two-box silhouette. The Recon can also fit high-profile, rugged tires.

Jeep has not yet released information on the retail price for the Recon. A closer look at the pricing structure of the Wrangler model could explain the strong relationship between the Recon & the Wrangler. Because EVs are more expensive than their Internal Combustion Engine powered counterparts, the Recon will be more costly.

The entry-level Wrangler is only $32,000, while the Rubicon392 costs between $84,290 and $84,290. The PHEV models combine the power of a gasoline engine with electric power to give you a better idea. The cheapest model, the Sahara 4xe starts at $58,640. The Rubicon 4xe has a more detailed specification and starts at $62,380. The Recon is likely to start at a higher starting price than the hybrid because of the increased development and manufacturing cost associated with a fully-electric powertrain.

Engine & Specs

The 2024 Jeep Recon was built around an electric powertrain. A completely new chassis will be used for the vehicle, called “STLA”. The STLA will come in four different versions. These versions can accommodate different sizes of electrified Jeep models. Because of its massive dimensions, the Recon is a great candidate for “STLA Large”.

The use of electric architecture will not affect the off-road capabilities of Recon. This is why Jeep created the Recon. It will be capable of trail-rated capability and have selected terrain management systems. Even in harsh environments, it shouldn’t pose a problem. An extensive underbody protection system will protect costly batteries from any damage. To ensure high ground clearance, the Recon will feature a high beltline that incorporates the batteries. The suspension system was built to handle heavy electric motors while still providing excellent travel.

The independent suspension system should make the Wrangler more comfortable on the road. The Recon will have a unibody structure that is different than the Wrangler. This structure provides strength and resilience. Given its off-road ambitions, we can almost guarantee that Jeep will equip Recon with an all-wheel drive system. Similar to the Wrangler, the vehicle will be able to retract its roof and take its doors off.

The final powertrain specs are still to be determined but the STLA Large platform can support batteries up to 100kW. The “Wagoneer S” Jeep EV is also expected to have a 400-mile range and produce 600 hp. Jeep claims it can go from 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. These numbers are a testament to the brand’s capabilities, even if the Wagoneer is more road-focused than the Recon. The Recon’s performance credentials should be reason enough to get excited.

The order books will be open in 2023, and production is expected in 2024. The Recon’s delivery date has not been announced. These details will be finalized by Jeep. It will be fascinating to see how different models are received, while the Wrangler is still available for purchase (including its 4xePHEV variants). Jeep owners are loyal Jeep enthusiasts for many years. They may not be able to accept the change in power source.

Jeep has not yet disclosed the starting price of the Recon EV, but we think it will be more expensive than the gasoline-powered Wrangler. The Recon EV’s offroad capabilities could mean it will look similar to the Wrangler’s trim. It would begin with Sport trim and quickly rise in price and luxury to reach a Sahara High Altitude version.

Futures

Jeep executives stated that the Wrangler would remain the brand’s flagship offroad vehicle and that it was not being replaced by the Recon. Meunier stressed that the Wrangler would always be the Wrangler. It’s quite clear. The Wrangler is the best of the best.

Along with the Wagoneer S, the Jeep Recon will be the first of the two new electric SUVs that North America launches. The reservation process will open in 2023 and deliveries will begin in 2024. The launch date will be announced closer to the launch. Prices and ranges will be disclosed shortly. These two SUVs will both be manufactured in America, which makes them eligible for the federal electric vehicle tax credit. Jeep will add a fully-electric model to its North American lineup in 2025. The Avenger EV will also go international.
