The Hyundai 2024 Kona is a completely new model, but it doesn’t look as innovative underneath. The new model’s specifications are available. The subcompact SUV’s engine options–a naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter inline-four and a turbocharged, 1.6-liter Inline-four–will carry over from the previous model. Details for the U.S. model are still being finalized. This will confirm that the Kona hybrid model will be available in the U.S.

2024 Hyundai Kona Redesign
The 2024 Hyundai Kona has a larger exterior than the previous model. We don’t know the dimensions of the electric version, but they will be identical to the hybrid and gasoline variants. The wheelbase is expected to be identical.
It measures 4,350mm (171.5 inches). It measures 4,350 mm (171.5 in.) in length, 1,825mm in width, and 1,580mm (62.2 in.). The 2024 Kona is 145mm (5.7 in.) in height in gasoline and hybrid versions. longer, 25 mm (1.0 in.) It is longer, 25 mm (1.0 in.). The 2023 Hyundai Kona Electric is taller. The wheelbase measures 2,660mm (104.7 inches). This is an improvement of 60mm (2.4 in.). ).
Hyundai claims that the 2024 Kona was designed to be an electric vehicle and then modified for internal combustion engine applications. Although the 2024 Kona Electric doesn’t have a unique design, it can be considered an electric-first model.
Front
The Kona was the first model to feature composite headlamps. This is also known as split headlamps. The model was originally equipped with horizontal lower lamps. However, the 2024 Hyundai Kona features vertical lower (main), lamps as seen on Palisade and Tucson, and other Hyundai SUVs. The vertical light assembly is composed of a low beam and a high beam as well as three turn signals.
At the hood is the full-width daytime running lights strip. It was inspired by the Hyundai Galaxy. This DRL is available in an Electric variant. It’s called the “Pixelated Seamless Horn Lamp” and features a pixelated center section. The hood is shorter and flatter than the one that came before it. Thanks to the unique pixel graphic details, the grille area appears more sophisticated. Like the previous model, the charging port for the 2024 Kona Electric is found in the front. The charging port is located in the grille, making head-in charging easier.
Side
The 2024 Kona’s sides feature trapezoidal wheel arches that give it a more aggressive and sharper look. Contrary to the Kona gasoline or hybrid versions, the 2024 Kona has no black wheel arch cladding. This gives it a more elegant and clean look than customers would expect from an electric vehicle.
The SUV’s bold appearance is further enhanced by the large Z-shaped character lines on its sides. The SUV’s bold intentions are reflected in the X-shaped graphic that forms at the C-pillar. The panels of rear quarter glass are larger, giving passengers in the rear a better view of the surrounding environment.
Rear
The 2024 Hyundai Kona electric’s rear features a monolithic, clean design. It also has a narrow tail light called the ‘Seamless Horizon Lamp.’ This lamp extends the width of the SUV to its shoulder. The bumper also features pixel graphic details. Combination lamps are stop lights, reverse lights, and turn indicators. Their design and location are similar to the headlamps. The pixel graphic details seem to include the fog lights/reflectors. A compact, new unit with the same pixel-inspired design is the high-mounted stop lamp.
Interior
The interior design of the 2024 Hyundai Kona electric is very different from that of the previous model. The new interior design features cues from the Ioniq 5. Hyundai used a different two-tone color scheme, with lighter shades, to make the cabin brighter and more appealing.

The 2024 Kona Electric is a modernized version of the previous Kona Electric. The 2024 Kona Electric features a dual-display panel that houses a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.3 inches touchscreen infotainment systems together. It also has slimmer central AC vents. A new climate control panel consists of physical buttons, new three-spoke steering wheels, and a digital mirror.
USB-C & Power Outlets
The new floor console design has two sections. The front section is tilted more, so there’s no need for a cover to protect the wireless charging area. It supports USB-C, 12-volt, and 180-watt ports. The bottom section has a panel with a rotary dial at the center and switches along the sides. This would allow drivers to select their preferred drive mode via the rotary dial. There’s also an SD card slot to store your SD card and a storage area that has two modular cupholders.
Column-Mounted Selector
The 2024 Kona Electric features a steering-wheel-mounted gear selector. It is similar to the Ioniq 5 and has a shiny finish with a ribbed design. The central tunnel can be cleaned by moving the gear selector from behind the steering wheel to the left. This allows for more storage space and makes it easier to store small items.
New Steering Wheel
The steering wheel is simpler than the Ioniq 5. The new steering wheel doesn’t feature the two-spoke luxury car-like unit. Some customers will prefer the traditional three-spoke design. The new steering wheel isn’t as chunky as the previous model. The new steering wheel has a circular center pad with four dots. This is Morse Code for H and not the brand logo.
Features
The convenience of a custom-designed’smartpower’ tailgate, Hyundai’s ‘Digital Key 2 Touch app for remote functions via smartphones, a wireless charging station, and LED ambient lighting are all available to owners. The ambient lights can also be used to support OTA updates.
Some features are South Korean-specific. There’s also an “e-pass” function that allows for electronic toll payments to be made on the highways. Hyundai’s new built-in cam 2 is another example. We assume it has a Wi-Fi module similar to the all-new Hyundai Grandeur.
Physical Buttons
Many buyers will appreciate the fact that there are many physical buttons in the Hyundai Kona Electric’s cabin. Some of these physical controls will enable customers to directly access functions such as media and maps from the infotainment system without having to navigate through touchscreen menus.
Knobs for HVAC
There are also rotary knobs that control climate control. Customers will no longer have to look at the road to adjust the climate control settings. Knowing the location of the knobs as well as their tactile feel will allow them to control the temperature without having to focus on the road. Many carmakers integrate climate settings into their infotainment. They also add a secondary screen to the center console that is dedicated to climate settings. This can be distracting and difficult to use when you are wearing gloves or have damp fingers.
Paddle Shifters & Buttons
The steering wheel has several well-designed buttons and rotary dials that can be used for audio, calling, and ADAS. The left spoke has Smart Cruise Control controls and lane driving assistance. On the right, it has Bluetooth, multimedia, and voice command controls. The steering-mounted controls will allow customers to navigate through the different settings of the digital instrument cluster. The intensity of the regenerative brake can be adjusted using paddle shifters located behind the wheel.
Rear AC Vents and Better Rear Knee Space
The Kona Electric’s interior features a light grey theme. New door panels feature sleeker grab handles and rear AC vents. The Kona Electric also features an electrically adjustable front passenger seat, similar to the Ioniq 5. Hyundai claims that the new model’s front seat backrests are slimmer, which opens up rear knee space and elevates the feeling of space.
According to the company, the new model offers more legroom and headroom than previous models. It also boasts a larger second-row shoulder area and better cargo capacity. 2024 Kona can carry up to 723 Liters (25 cu. Hyundai claims that the 2024 Kona measures 30.5 ft. with the rear seats folded. This is 30% more than the previous model.
Specifications
Hyundai Kona 2024 continues to be a multi-energy vehicle, with both petrol and all-electric powertrains. It is based on a modified version of the previous Kona platform. The Niro Electric was updated by Kia in 2022. It follows a similar path, but with some changes to the electrical system. The Kona Electric’s sister, the Niro EV, is likely to receive the same upgrades as the Hyundai crossover. The new Niro EV has a 64.8 kWh lithium-ion battery. This is a small increase from the 64 kWh of the previous model.
The 2024 Hyundai Kona Electric will have more cargo space and a larger knee and shoulder area than the previous model. The increased dimensions could limit the range, although it may be marginally better. Customers who need a longer range of travel would be wise to upgrade to Ioniq 5.
Hyundai has not yet revealed the specs for the EV model. However, the Hybrid version of the 2024 Kona’s 1.6-liter GDi engine is tuned with direct injection. It is paired with an electric motor and a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission to produce a combined output power of 141 PS (139 horsepower) and 27.0 kgf*mNm (195.3 lb.ft.) Hyundai Motor Research Institute measured that the Kona Hybrid gets 19.8 km/l (46.6 MPG).
Production
S.Korean publication Electronic Times Internet reported that Hyundai had begun production in Ulsan, South Korea, on December 12, 2022. According to Electronic Times Internet, five plants are owned by the company. The report, published on November 7, 2022, stated that the new Kona would be produced at Plant No. 1, which is also the site of the outgoing model. 3.

Hyundai stopped production at Ulsan Plant 3 times during the first half of 2022 and then installed a new production line to produce the 2024 Kona. According to Electronic Times Internet’s November 20,22 report, it was planning to first make the Hybrid and regular variants and then start producing the Electric variant.
U.S. Production
Electronic Times Internet reported that Kona Electric production could be done in the United States. This would allow the model to qualify for the Clean Vehicle Credit incentive. This possibility was not mentioned in the South Korean publication. It is unlikely that Kona Electric will be located in the United States immediately.
European Production
The Kona Electric is also manufactured by Hyundai in Nosovice (Czech Republic) since March 2020. This factory supplies the European market with Kona Electric. The second generation may see a separate regional production.
2024 Hyundai Kona Release Date
The 2024 Hyundai Kona electric will be unveiled at the 2023 Seoul Mobility Show, on March 30, 2023. It will then go on sale in South Korea in Quarter 2 2023. It could be available in the U.S. by Q4 2023. This should allow its 2023 Kia Niro Electric EV cousin enough time to get settled into the market.
In the United States, December 2022 saw the Hyundai Kona Electric achieve its highest-ever retail sales. Hyundai claims it sold 35% more Kona Electric units in the country during Q4 2022 than in Q4 2021. However, it has not disclosed the volume.
Hyundai will introduce several new ZEVs in the future. These include the Hyundai Ioniq 7, HyundaiStaria Fuel Cell, and the new Hyundai Nexo.
