Ford’s small pickup was introduced a few years back and changed the perception of compact trucks, creating a new segment. It currently has Hyundai Santa Cruz as its only competitor. However, this could soon change, as rival companies have announced they will be joining the segment. The 2024 Ford Maverick will bring some new features to the market, even though its overall design is quite fresh. It appears that the hybrid version will soon get an all-wheel-drive, although some sources speculate about a plug-in hybrid.
These updates will ensure that Maverick remains the class leader. We don’t expect any major changes to the model next year. We expect to see the same layout with the same features and specifications. This pickup is attractive for its smooth ride, cost-effective powertrain, and decent selection of available and standard equipment.
2024 Ford Maverick Powertrain
The biggest changes in the next year’s model should be under the hood. Based on what we know, the Hybrid model should be offered with an AWD option, as the current model is FWD only. We don’t anticipate any major changes to the specs. The system output should stay the same at 191 horsepower. We don’t anticipate a significant decrease in mpg ratings. The FWD model returns about 33 mpg in cities and 42 on the highway, so things should not change.
We are hearing reports of a new plug-in hybrid model. The new model has a similar setup but a larger battery and more powerful electric motors. The system output is around 221 horsepower and the 14.4-kWh battery pack should provide around 35 miles of all-electric range. The turbo-four model is available with the well-known 2.0-liter engine, which produces 250 horsepower. It also features an automatic gearbox in place of a CVT.
We don’t think that the 2024 Ford Maverick will bring any more significant updates to the vehicle, except for the powertrain upgrades. While the overall design will not change, we believe it’s too early to do a mid-cycle refresh. The styling will be the same with aesthetics that are very similar to the Bronco Sport at least in the front. The next model will be offered in the same crew cab layout. The same goes for mechanics. The overall driving experience shouldn’t change, as we don’t expect any. It’s important to note that the base model with a Hybrid Powertrain has a semi-independent rear suspension while turbo-four models have an independent rear suspension.
No major changes are anticipated, once again. The 2024 Ford Maverick will have a familiar dashboard design. It doesn’t feel very inspiring, but it doesn’t feel bad. Even though most surfaces are made of hard plastics, the build quality appears to be good. This pickup looks more expensive than it is because of the good ergonomics and a large number of tech features.
There is nothing to be unhappy about when it comes to space. The first row is spacious and comfortable. The second row can accommodate adults comfortably. The sound insulation is excellent, and the boxy shape allows for great visibility outwards in all directions. The Santa Cruz has a 4.5-foot cargo bed that is slightly larger than the Santa Cruz, and it is also 0.5 feet longer.
This aspect of the equipment will likely see some updates. While some of the options may be included in the standard equipment, we are certain that the majority of things will remain the same. Expect to see base models with features such as an 8-inch touch screen and Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, two USB ports, Bluetooth stereo, a six-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, an analog gauge cluster, and remote keyless entry.
You can expect upgrades such as navigation, wireless charging, an eight-speaker stereo,, and satellite radio, two additional USB ports, two 120-volt household-style power outlets, dual-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless access, push-button or remote start, ambient lighting, a moonroof,, and sliding rear glass.
2024 Ford Maverick Price and Release Date
The 2024 Ford Maverick is expected to hit the market in the fourth quarter of 2019. We don’t anticipate a larger increase in the price of the next model, which is slightly below 24.000 dollars.
