Since the dawn of time, the domestic pickup-truck market has been dominated and dominated by Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado, and other brands. Electrification brings a new generation. We have already heard a lot about Ford F-150 Lightning. The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado Electric Vehicle (CESV), is now ready to join the fray. Chevrolet unveiled Wednesday the 2024 Silverado EV pickup truck at CES 2022, Las Vegas. It will be available in two trims when it comes off Detroit GM Factory Zero’s line in 2023: the fully loaded RST (First Edition) and WT (Work Truck).
2024 Chevy Silverado EV WT Redesign
Silverado EV extends GM’s current lineup of electric vehicles. The front fascia of the truck is reminiscent of Bolt EVs and Bolt SUVs. The entire width is covered by a thin strip of running lights. The pickup’s front overhang is less than modern pickups. It is easier to park than the Duramax 2500. The RST keeps the matte-gray elements in the lower body, while the WT keeps them up to the bumper. Yes, there is a frunk. General Motors calls it the trunk.
The buttressing that runs between the cabin and bed is my favorite part of the Silverado Electric Vehicle. It’s very similar to the Chevy Avalanche’s but it’s still a great thing. If you look back, the pickup’s rear end is more traditional. MultiFlex Tailgate opens to reveal a bed measuring 11 inches in length. There’s a secret between the bed and the cabin. It’s the MultiFlex Midgate by GM. This pass-through is compatible with RST models. Buyers can transport heavier loads by folding down sections of the 40-60 split-second rows. The Silverado Silverado EVO RST can hold items up to 9 feet long with the midgate opened. The tailgate can be placed in maximum storage and will grow up to 10 feet 10 inches.
It is huge! It is massive! This is what I saw in person. What wheels are you seeing in GM promotional photos? These wheels are 24 inches in diameter. GM did not give any figures, but the roof measures 233 in length. This roof is just a fraction of what the F-150 Lightning has. The Lightning’s roof measures around 76 inches. Chevy could have copied the 2022 Silverado’s interior design, but it didn’t. Instead, we see a sleek sheet design that almost looks more like a pickup truck rather than a passenger vehicle. According to GM, the center console can hold 7 gallons. This gives you enough space to store a lunch cooler. The large cabin feels even larger thanks to the fixed-glass roof.
Charging, powertrain, and capabilities
All models of the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV are eligible to ride on GM’s Ultrium platform. This platform is identical to the Hummer EV. Both the RST- as well as WT versions will use the same battery. GM estimates that each model has a range of 400 miles. The RST generates more power. Silverado EV RST can produce up to 664 horsepower in Wide Open Watts mode and 780 lb. feet torque. Silverado EV 615 horsepower The automaker claims that the WOW mode will allow the RST to reach 60 mph within 4.5 seconds.
Silverado’s first battery can charge up to 350 Kilowatts. There are many other options. When the battery is running at maximum speed, it can extend the range by up to 100 miles per hour. The Silverado, like the F-150 Lightning Lightning Lightning Lightning, can provide power for tools at job sites and campsites. Ten outlets can provide the power of up to 10.2kW. This is slightly less than the Lightning.
Both Silverado Silverado Electric Vehicles can haul heavy truck loads. The RST can carry up to 10,000 lbs and 1,300 lbs in its cargo area. WT’s numbers are lower at 8,000 and 1,200 respectively. Those who need to tow heavy objects might want to delay a little as GM promises a maximum tow version for the WT that can tow up to 20,000 lbs. This is HD truck territory.
Technology
Silverado’s electric car is packed both inside and outside. RST models include an adaptive air suspension standard that adjusts the truck’s ride height by approximately two inches. Although four-wheel steering is possible, it doesn’t offer the same crab-walking feature as the GMC Hummer EV. Chevy Safety Assist is the automaker’s suite of active and passive driver assistance. It’s standard on RST and WT. It also includes an automatic emergency brake and forward colliding warning with pedestrian detection. It also has lane assistance, high beams, automatic high beams, and lane help. The vehicle can be towable on US highways. It worked just as well with a GMC Sierra as the regular Super Cruise. However, there is a little more work-focused capability. Silverado E-V RT fully loaded features impressive cabin tech. The 17-inch standard infotainment screen is 17. An 11-inch configurable gauge monitor is also available. WT offers a telematics solution measuring 11 inches, and a digital cluster measuring 8 inches.
Pricing and release dates
The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV Model WT is now available for purchase. The WT will be available for purchase in spring 2023. A GM representative stated that most of the models from the first model year are sold out. The WT is a fleet purchase, so GM has not yet announced a price. GM will soon be able to sell the WT at $39,900 once production increases. However, this range will be lower than what was previously announced. The RST First Edition will not be available for production until fall 2023. It will be $105,000 before the destination. Other trims, such as Trail Boss badges and familiar badges, will be available in the future. GM plans to offer a Silverado EV variant at various prices, including $60,000, $70,000, and $80,000.
